Class Times & Description of Syllabus
UNITY AIKIDO CLASSES 2009
Children's Samurai Club:
Monday & Wednesday 3.30-4.30pm kids age 5-10. & Saturday 10-11am
The samurai Club teaches kids Aikido fundamentals of safety, skill and fairness in a fun games atmosphere. All available senseis help with this group. Kids LOVE the sword skills with foam then wooden swords and the games teach them safety skills effortlessly. They learn to roll and tumble first on soft mats and progress to being safe even on hard surfaces. This class benefits shy children and overly aggressive children, children who are bullied and children who bully. Aikido balances them and gives them a middle way where fun, safety and self-respect are theirs. Good Samurai manners are part of the teaching.
NEW PARENTS & CHILDREN CLASS: Saturday 10am- 11am.
One or both parents may now learn Aikido together with their child/children between ages 3 & up. Sensei Hanifa Leoni, 7th Dan Unity Aikido, teaches this class combining and separating the age groups as needed.
This class is being made available so families may enjoy together the skills and fun of Aikido. There are some joint activities for adults with their child and some separate with children together and adults together. This is a work in progress and we invite you to be part of it's growth. In Japan, our friend and visiting sensei Futami Kenkichi 7th Dan who took classes for Samurai Kids and officiated at our opening ceremony also runs classes for families. It's a good way to play with your children.
